Yet another blog on how to make your own goggles
A while ago I decided that for Halloween I wanted to dress up as some sort of steampunk something. Which, of course, means really cool goggles. I am a bit short on funds, but I have a ton of crafty stuff, and I like to think that given enough time I can make just about anything. After looking at a bunch of examples online, I thought "I can do this" and today was my day off, so why not do it now?
I started with some PVC plumbing parts that I found at my local hardware store and superglued on some metal electrical thingies (I don't know the technical names for any of these). I thought the metal things looked kind of like gears.
Next, I spray painted it all with a brown metallic paint. (Note: I paid a little extra for spray paint that sticks to everything, including plastic. If you make your own, watch out for that because not all spray paint sticks to plastic.)
After the paint was dry, I didn't think it looked metallic enough, so I painted over it with gold paint to make it shinier.
Next, I found a scrap piece of leather, laid my pieces out on the back of it, and drew an outline of where to cut with a Sharpie.
Then I cut out the leather, and glued it on to the eye parts using more superglue. I also added on some more shiny parts for decoration.
And this is another view of it almost done. At this point, all I had to do was add on a strap and the glass part. For the strap I just used black elastic. The glass part though was a more difficult. I found some thin plexiglass and managed to cut pieces that were mostly round. It didn't matter too much if they weren't perfect because the PVC pieces would cover the edges. I just used more superglue and glued the plexiglass on the inside of the eye pieces.
And it's all done! I think they turned out amazingly well. Now I just need to get the rest of my costume in order.

More photography
I've been taking a bit of a break, but now it's time to jump back into things and be productive. To kick things off, I give you more photography. This time, of people. These are all people I know, most of them family. Photos are roughly in chronological order, the first one was taken almost 8 years ago...

fandomopoly
My final for my digital layout class was to create a new version of monopoly. Me, being the nerd that I am, made Fireflyopoly. I just had to make the board, not the whole game, but at some point, I would like to make it all and make it playable. For that, I love some input. Like, ideas for cards and stuff. Anyways, here is the board. I want to know what people think of it and if I should change anything.

Just a teaser
I fail at posting on a regular basis, and this isn't even a real entry.
I'm working on a project right now (it will be up here in a few days. Promise.) and my inner typography nerd is coming out. I hate my fandom right now because it's forcing me to use Papyrus. So much hate. But I can't see a way around it without being just as lame...
And I realize that no one really cares about this... but I felt like sharing.

I can draw
Right now, I'm taking an illustration class. We basically have one big project due at the very end. We're working in pairs and making a calendar. My partner and I are doing our calender about birds. My scans are kinda weird looking, but you can still get an idea of what it looks like. It's done with watercolors and Micron pens (which are the best pens ever, btw). These are the first two I have completed. I have another two started, and then two more I have to do after that. Oh, and I only have three weeks left to finish it all.
